Week 3 2022

 Week 3

This week was a pretty eventful week. It started off with a day off. The kids and I had Monday off for the Holiday. We didn't do much, but I went out in the morning and was able to get some shopping done. I'm working on decorating our front door area but haven't figured it all out yet. Monday night was the Cardinals first playoff game. It was a really sad game. I realized pretty early that they were going to lose and accepted it. Kylie was really sad about it.

Wednesday was the 100th day of school. Kylie's class was having a big celebration, so we got her a fun 100 day of school shirt. The school continued the celebration at Peter Piper Pizza at night. We had such a fun night playing games as a family.

Friday was a crazy day. Jeremy and I both had very full days at work. Jeremy had to go downtown to the office, and I had a day of back-to-back meetings. I was running late in the morning and had to rush the kids to school and then run to my office for a meeting. In this rush, I ended up not bringing my phone to my office. I went about my morning, attending my meetings and around 11:15am, Jeremy emailed my work email and said to call him as soon as I got the email. I immediately ended my meeting and had to run around the house to find my phone. I had several missed calls from Jeremy and the kid's school. I called Jeremy and he said Kylie got hurt and I need to pick her up and take her to the doctor. The school said her nose is most likely broken. Guilt hit hard because everyone had been trying to get ahold of me for about 1.5 hours.

I moved all my afternoon meetings and then headed to the school. Kylie came out and had a very swollen and black/blue nose. It was the worst between her eyes. The first thing she said to me was "Why did it take you so long Mommy?" It felt like a knife in the heart at the moment. I know she won't remember but it will take me awhile to forgive myself.

We got in the car, and I started searching for urgent cares and pediatric offices. I called several and they all said she needed to go to the hospital which I didn't think was necessary and didn't want to do because of the current covid environment. I decided to head over to goodyear where I was familiar with where different urgent cares and hospitals were. We went into a few, and they also said they couldn't help us. I was very defeated and frustrated. By this time, Jeremy was able to get away from work and come join us. My last hope was the Phoenix Childrens Hospital that I had been to with Blake years ago. We walked in and right away the receptionist said she couldn't help us as they don't open the urgent care section until 5pm. I asked her if she could please help me know where to go next. I think she could tell how defeated I was feeling and became very helpful and told me to come back at 4pm and sit in the waiting room and at 4:30pm I could get the first ticket and Kylie could be seen at 5pm. I was so thankful for the advice and help.

Kylie and I headed to the car and Jeremy arrived around the same time. He said he wanted to take over and try a few places. He went straight to her old pediatric office and walked in and they were able to get her in. I'm so thankful for this but I called them and they told me they had no openings and either way she had to go to the hospital. I'm so thankful that he gave it a try. They ended up sending them to the hospital to get x-rays and referred us to a nose specialist to see on Monday. The doctor called back really late on Friday and said he is worried about her having an infection or blood clot since she was having trouble breathing through her nose. He prescribed medicine and was so nice and answered all of our questions.

Kylie and I snuggled up and watched a few of her favorite shows Friday night. I felt so bad for her so I spoiled her like crazy. Every time I looked at her I got so sad. Her face looked very bad on Friday. Also, the doctor said we needed to try and ice her nose as much as we can so I gave her a prize every time she let me put ice on her nose for 5-10 minutes. She loved it!

Over the weekend we mostly stayed home. I didn't want to risk Kylie running into anything and get more hurt. Jeremy and Kylie went on a little night date on Saturday to get some ice cream! Blake has been really into the Dog Man book series and we now officially have all the books. Blake picked up a new one at Costco and read over half the book on the way home. Blake has always hated reading so it has been so fun to see him reading for fun! His teacher recently told me that he is an above average reader for his grade which is a huge improvement for him!
