Week 29

 Week 29

Life has been so crazy which is why I am so far behind on blogs. I feel like the weeks keep getting rougher but at the same time I know we are so blessed and it could be so much worse but it's been hard.

This week was a fun week. Grandma Krass came to visit on Monday. This was Blake's last full week of summer break so he was really excited to have someone to hang out with. Blake has developed a strong relationship with my mom over the last few years. She helped get him through remote learning and he has always loved calling her and reading her books. Blake and I picked up Grandma from the airport. We made a sign for Blake to hold up when we saw her coming. We headed home and the two of them hung out the rest of the day while I worked.

Our first big event was an Arizona Diamondbacks game. Jeremy was amazing and got us tickets for the dugout section. My mom and I took the kids and had such a fun night. We arrived a little early so we were able to hang out in our seats and see the player warm up. The security guards invited us to come near the home plate section and take pictures. They surprised the kids with baseballs from the Diamondbacks batting practice.

Next, we headed up to the top floor to check out the kids area. The playground was open so the kids were able to play for the first time. We let them play for a little while and then headed back downstairs to grab food. We ended up realizing we didn't have any money with us as we left it in the car. After calling Jeremy we were able to figure out that he could order the food for us from home. He saved the day!

We watched the game while we waited for food. The kids cheered the players on and held up their sign. Kylie's favorite player is Josh Rojas. I think it's because he has been doing well but when we watch the game at home the announcers say his name really loud and it sounds fun so she picks up on it. She was trying to get his attention most of the game but about half way through she waved at him as he was walking back to the dugout and he waved back. She got super shy but was so excited! I honestly think she was shocked.

We headed back up to the kids area to let the kids get some energy out. They loved the playground and Blake also loved the batting cage. He does pretty well especially for never playing. The kids also were able to get a picture with Baxter or as Kylie says "my little cutie". She loves Baxter.

We headed back to our seats to watch the rest of the game. It was a pretty exciting game! At one point a player hit the ball and the bat went flying right to our seats but there was a net. The reaction is to think you are going to get hit so everyone was freaking out. It was pretty funny. The guy in front of us stood up to try and catch it and then realized it couldn't hit us. haha! The Diamondbacks won which was really exciting! The kids let us stay till the end of the game and barely made it back to the car before they fell asleep. Overall it was a really fun night.

On Tuesday, Blake and Grandma hung out for the day. They went to the Crayola Factory and Chuck E Cheese. It sounded like they had a ton of fun! Wednesday was a crazy day. We planned for Blake and Grandma to go to a kids playland but Kylie ended up coming home from school early and needed to go to the doctor. We ended up waiting and having Grandma take Kylie and Blake. Late afternoon I had a meeting but I was able to head to the playland and attend the meeting while watching and playing with the kids. Definitely one of the perks of working from home. :) We ended the night with taking Kylie to swim lessons.

Thursday was the start to a fun two days. Around noon, Blake, Grandma and I surprised Kylie and picked her up early and headed to..... The Great Wolf Lodge!! I struggled to find something really fun to do with my mom while she was here since it's so hot. We started off with going to the waterpark. The kids ran straight to the wave pool while my mom and I grabbed food. The kids refused to eat and insisted they weren't hungry. We played in the wave pool and then went on all the slides once. We tried out the lazy river and the wave pool tons. Every time the kids heard the wave pool sound they would run as fast as they could to the wave pool. It was really nice that the kids can swim well enough that I didn't have to be worrying constantly about them. Kylie isn't as strong as Blake but can hold her own for the most part. The kids were well behaved but not listening very well at one point. I made everyone sit down so we could regroup and the kids saw our leftover food and DEVOURED it! After they ate, we hit the slides again and the kids had fun on the kid slides as well.

Next, we went to the room to change and get ready for a fun night at the hotel attractions. We played a game of bowling. Kylie did really well. We played a few games in the arcade. We each picked two games and Kylie picked a little kids ride for one of hers. Very simple but she loved it. The kids picked out a cup of Ben and Jerry's ice cream and we went to the Storytime activity. Blake wasn't a huge fan of the Storytime but Kylie loved it.

Thursday night there was a HUGE storm. The kids had no idea since they were in their own room watching TV. It was raining really hard which was causing flooding and the lightening and thunder was insane. I kept watching the weather radar and we were in the middle of the red section. Thankfully we didn't lose power and I was able to fall asleep.

Friday morning, it was still pouring down rain but we really wanted to get chick fil a for breakfast. I took one for the team and ran in the rain to get the car. It was me and all the dads in the parking lot. haha!

After breakfast we headed to the waterpark as soon as it opened. Our plan was to hurry to the slides so we could go as many times as wanted before the lines started to get long. We quickly realized that the slides were closed due to the storm. I should have connected it but since the slides go outside in the loops they could get hit by lightening so they had to close them until the lightening was far away. This left pretty much the wave pool and then some kid slides. The kids love the wave pool so we spent hours jumping the waves. We had a few snacks and then headed home.

Friday night my mom and I had a girls night. We mostly went shopping and had dinner. I was on the hunt to get the last few items I needed to get the kids ready for school. After many stores I finally hit the jackpot on lunch boxes which was the last item on my list. We had to shop in the rain but it was still a fun night.

Sunday we had to say goodbye to grandma which was really sad. These three were sad together.
