Week 32
This was the kids first full week of school. Blake struggled a lot with focusing on his homework. He has a good amount of homework and we pay for the after school program because he asked if he could so he could get his homework done before going home. This week he barely did any of his homework and then wasn't focusing once we got home. We survived but it was rough. I do have to say that they tell me about how they see each other during the day and say hi and give each other hugs. It melts my heart because they fight so bad at home so it's nice to hear they are nice to each other at school. :)
Wednesday night, Blake told me that his throat hurt so I did an at-home strep test and it came back positive. I took him to urgent care really early Thursday morning. We were literally waiting outside the door 10 minutes before they opened because I had meetings for work. :) The test at the urgent care came back negative but the doctor decided to send it to a lab and put him on medicine while we waited. I kept him home the rest of the day to be safe.
Thursday night, Jeremy's brother came into town. Jeremy and Blake took Friday off to float down the river with Josh and Asher. It sounds like they had fun but it was a little long. They took Chloe with them and she had her own float.
Kylie and I planned a surprise party for Jeremy and Josh. Kylie and I put on birthday hats and decorated and yelled "SURPRISE" when they walked in the door. I think they were surprised and had fun. I had a present for each of them and then we had cheesecake later. The boys played video games all night and I watched the AZ Cardinals first pre-season game.
Friday night, around 9pm, I received a call from the kids head of school. She informed me that Kylie had been exposed to COVID and would not be allowed back on campus until Wednesday, if she tested negative on Monday. This was stressful because we had family now at our house that was flying home on Sunday. We needed up testing her on Saturday and Sunday morning and both came back negative.
Saturday, we woke up and hurried out the door to go on a little hike. After, we grabbed breakfast at McDonalds and headed to Tempe. We brought our scooters and a bike to ride along the river. Jeremy and I ended up renting scooters as well so we could all stay together. Kylie went on the scooter with Jeremy and then Josh for a little bit. She doesn't like standing on it so she wasn't really excited about it but she did it.
Jeremy and I parked our scooters near the car and then started walking to the car while Josh and Blake went a little farther along the path. Kylie was walking behind us and Asher was riding the bike. We were about 20 feet from the car and we head a thud and then Kylie starts screaming. Asher had run right over Kylie and she hit the concrete face forward. Jeremy was really close and helped her up while I ran back to them. By the time I got there there was blood everywhere. She was spitting and coughing up blood. Ever since her incident at daycare I am traumatized by accidents and I freeze and freak out. I hope one day I can adjust this because I know it's not the best but I'm still traumatized, rightfully so. Anyways, I ended up swooping her up and hurrying her to the back of the car. Thankfully, McDonalds put tons of napkins in the food bag and I started wiping her face up to find out how bad it was and where it was bleeding from. She ended up getting a decent size cut from the outside of her lip to the inside of her mouth. She also scarped up her face. The bleeding stopped after a few minutes and I hurried her home to get ice.
Blake took good care of her in the car and handed her napkins. He was such a worried brother. Once we got home she laid on the couch and took in all the pampering. Her lip did swell a good amount and Jeremy and I weren't on the same page about whether she needed to see a doctor for stiches. We ended up waiting it out and kept an eye on it. Kylie spent most of the day laying around and attached to my hip. We did go swimming for a little bit. The kids had fun playing in the pool together.
