Week 21
This was exciting week for Blake. He had his last day of school and officially passed 1st grade. We picked up his final report card and we are SO proud of Blake. He worked his butt off in his last grading period to stay on track with humanities and math. He ended the grading period with a 95 in humanities and 96 in math! His overall grade was 95 for the year. This is amazing for him and his school. His school is very advanced and the classes are a grade ahead so his 1st grade math class is at a 2nd grade level. He also started school early so he is the youngest in his class and he could easily use that as an excuse but he has worked hard to keep up with his writing, reading, spelling, math, and behavior! Based on how this year started I never would have thought that we would finish the year so strong. Great Job Blake!
Early in the week we found out that one of our tenants moved out of our house so we were able to go over and take a look. It's always fun to bring the kids back to the houses and hear the memories that they have in the house. The kids drove Jeremy and I crazy but they loved running around and going up and down the stairs. That is the main thing they miss about our last house is the stairs. They talk about it all the time. :)
Blake had swim lessons on Thursday night this week. He has been working really hard to level up to the next swim class so he asked if he could be tested for the next level. This was his 3rd level 4 class so I told him he probably wouldn't but he has been swimming really well so I thought he had a chance. The test process was SO intense. In the past he was able to have his teacher graduate him so this was our 1st experience with the testing process. Blake did so good though and never gave up. The test lasted almost 15 minutes and it was continuous drills and I was exhausted just watching. After the test the coach told me that she could have passed him but she wants him to work on his breathing. He was swimming above his level but he wasn't super strong on his breathing. She was working with him on it during the test so I think he now has a better idea on what he needs to do. He was sad but it was so exciting to hear that he only needs to work on the breathing and then he will be in level 5.
On Friday at lunch time, Jeremy surprised Blake by taking him to Dicks Sporting Goods to buy him a mountain bike. He has been really into biking since COVID and he has more than maxed out his current bike. They love to go on long bike rides across the city but he doesn't have a bike with gears so it was a lot more work and he couldn't go very fast. Blake picked out a pretty blue bike and picked out a matching helmet, water bottle holder, water bottle and a kick stand! It's crazy how much stuff you end up needing for a bike. He was nervous at first to ride it but after trying it out at home he was doing awesome.
Jeremy and Blake went camping for the memorial day weekend and Kylie and I stayed home. I'm not a huge fan of the boys style of camping which is just in the woods. Kylie is also a little wild still so once she gets a little older I think camping with her will be more fun.
Kylie and I had a lot of fun over the weekend. We went to Red Robin for lunch one day. Her favorite part was the free balloon at the end. :) It was fun to have one on one time with her to chat, color, and play tic tac toe.
We also went bowling! I purchased summer season passes for our bowling alley this week. Since Blake will be home some of the summer, I thought it would be fun to go over once in a while and play a game during lunch. It's also a good option for the very hot summer weekends. Anyways, Kylie and I had fun! She is always full of energy and silly so she keeps you entertained.
Kylie had her 1st level 4 swim lesson. She did really well. She got lucky and had her level 3 coach so that made her more comfortable.
Kylie and I spent the rest of the weekend playing the pool, playing games, playing school with Chloe, watching a movie and being silly! Kylie requires a lot of attention and it's draining but we had a lot of fun! She is always saying the cutest things and constantly says "Mommy, I love you!".
Jeremy and Blake went camping for two nights. They had a lot of fun as well. They found a really yummy burger and ice cream shop on Saturday! After, they visited Jeremy's ancestors graves and went to the largest cooper mine in North America. Blake thought it was really cool. They built a really awesome fire at night and made smores.
Blake was so excited when he found a Trump shop. He is a big Trump fan so Jeremy bought him a hat and a few souvenirs. They also came across a small fair and Blake went on a few rides. They came across some wild life at their second camping spot. Blake and Jeremy also did a ton of bike riding on their trip. I guess Blake was always asking to go on the bikes. Overall, it sounds like they had a really successful trip!
