October 2020
The beginning of October was very chill. We didn't go anywhere except to take the kids to school. It was nice to have some downtime to relax and catch up on projects at home.
Mid-October Jeremy and Blake went on a HUGE hike. Blake always wants to go on hikes with Jeremy but I think this hike was a little too tough and he was regretting his decision to go. :) I was so proud of how hard he fought to keep going and made it so much farther than I would have. Jeremy recently got a drone and they took it on the trip to get some fun pictures and videos.
The weekend before Halloween we found a drive-thru Halloween party. There were different stations set up that went through. Some were scary and some were fun. The kids loved it! At the end they received a pumpkin and trick or treat bag. Before we went to the drive-thru party we decided to go to a restaurant. We had not been to a sit down restaurant since probably March. We were sitting in the waiting room in the corner to socially distance and I looked down to look at the menu and kylie stood up on the bench and pulled the fire alarm. It was the most embarrassing thing ever. We felt SO bad. The poor manager was being so nice but was struggling to figure out how to get it to stop. After almost 30 minutes he was able to completely turn it off. It was definitely a lesson to watch for fire alarms. We asked her after why she did it and she said "I just wanted to see what it was." We won't be going to a restaurant with her again for a long time. :)
Jeremy took the kids to a pumpkin festival in Scottsdale. They went on some fun rides, hay maze, and walked through the pumpkin patch. The kids had a lot of fun!
Kylie has been my football buddy! She likes to wear Cardinals gear on game day and wants to watch the game with me. She usually just talks during the game.
Halloween was different this year at the kids school. Blake was able to wear his Halloween costume and his school did a few activities but there wasn't the traditional trunk or treat. Kylies school had a party and trick or treating but the parents were not allowed to attend. I'm glad they were both still able to celebrate even if it was in a modified way. Kylie was Skye from paw patrol and Blake was diamond from Minecraft.
On Halloween night we decide to go trick-or-treating as a family. We went back and forth but decided we would wear masks and keep our distance. I also washed down all the candy before the kids were able to touch it. We didn't have a hard time distancing while trick-or-treating as there were not a lot of other trick-or-treaters where we were. It was really fun to see all the creative ideas that everyone had come up with to keep everyone safe but still let the kids enjoy the night. Our favorite was a ghost on a string. The owners would place a bag on the ghosts arm and then moved the ghost across the string and the kids grabbed the bag.
